 | Kenny McKendry Graduated from Brighton University with a degree in Illustration in 1986. He lived and worked there for the next 10 years, illustrating many classic novels such as Steinbeck, Dickens and Louisa M. Alcott, with the oldest and most respected illustrators agent - Artist Partners Ltd.
He then returned home to Ireland 10 years ago and began to paint his beloved Irish landscape. Kenny regularly returns to England for portrait commissions such as Sir David Watson, Sir Michael Checkland and Professor John Lord, his old tutor so completing a circle.
He is greatly influenced by the skills, honesty and emotion from styles like the barbizon to the tonalist American movement. Other passions and influences include great artists such as Osbourne, Guthrie and Paterson. Kenny also adores the gentle, intimate interpretation of nature by Lathrop, Inness, Thayer and Sargent.
Kenny quotes:-
To reproduce in another mind the impression set upon me, not to edify but to awaken an emotion. As Lathrop said- " to be moved is to live, the presense or absense, the amount and quality of the love and soul embodied in any work is the sure guide to it's value and permanence" To capture the beauty, soul of a passing moment, a reflection of my life experience simple and heartfelt. |
